Tournament Structure
Tournament Structure—Accelerated Swiss Format
Our tournament uses an Accelerated Swiss format, which does not rely on fixed groups or starting brackets. Instead, this format allows us to match teams based on performance, creating a fair and fluid pathway through the competition.
To begin the tournament fairly, teams have been ranked into a top half and bottom half, based on previous results, pre-tournament games, and self-assessment. This flexible seeding reflects the varied preparation levels and access to competition across different teams.
Day 1 – Thursday 3rd July
Teams from the top half will be randomly matched against each other and teams from the bottom half will be randomly matched against each other. A win earns a team 1 win point; a loss earns 0 win points.
Day 2 – Friday 4th July
Teams remain within their original matchup groupings (top half or bottom half), but new pairings are based on Day 1 results. Teams with 1 win point will play each other; likewise, teams with 0 win points will play each other. Within those groups, later matchups are seeded by winning margins to ensure balanced competition.
By the end of Day 2, teams will have 0, 1, or 2 win points.
Day 3 & 4 – Saturday 5th July - Sunday 6th July
Matchups are now drawn from across the full field (top half and bottom half), based on the number of win points earned so far. Teams face opponents with similar records, increasing competitiveness and fairness.
The top 8 teams, based on win points and performance, will qualify for the Quarterfinals, which will be played on Saturday evening with finals carrying over to Sunday.
