Announcing our Photographer Coordinators for 2014

We would like to announce the Photographer Coordinators for the 2014 Roller Derby World Cup! We are extremely proud to be working with Jules Doyle (Axle Adams) from Seattle, WA and Steve Mancini (Sharkey) from Portland, OR.

JULES DOYLE – Jules started as a derby photographer in early 2006 shooting for the Rat City Rollergirls.  He has shot over 100 leagues in action at many of the sports most prominent international events including 2011 Blood & Thunder Roller Derby World Cup, WFTDA Champs (2007-2013), WFTDA Playoffs/Regionals, Battle on the Bank, ECDX, Roll Britannia, Wild West Showdown, RollerCon and Bumberbout.  He has also been Photo Coordinator for WFTDA Champs 2008, WFTDA Playoffs 2013 (Salem), WFTDA Champs 2013 as well as Photo Coordination Consultant for WFTDA tournaments in 2012 and 2013.

STEVE MANCINI – “Roller Derby Fan & Photographer, in that Order” has been Steve’s ‘about’ on his Masonite Burn photography page since 2009 when he first picked up a camera and taught himself (with a lot of help from his fellow derby photographers) how to shoot. He has been shooting for the Rose City Rollers since 2009 and in 2012 won DerbyLife’s Photo of the Year with his image of Demanda Riot. Being a glutton for punishment he has not only shot several tournaments but also coordinated photography for Wild West Showdown(2012-2014), Spudtown Knockdown(2012-2014), and the Big O (2014).  In 2011, he managed photographers for the WFTDA tournament in Portland Oregon. “Sharkey” (as he is called by friends) is also known for starting the “f/2.8: Fast Glass around the Derby Track” group – a collection of 500+ roller derby photographers who share experiences to raise the bar for all derby photography around the world.
